Barangay Tubod and Barangay San Roque, Iligan City

The Volunteerism for Community Engagement Program (VOCEP) of the Department of Extension (DE) aims to provide opportunities for meaningful social engagement in the Institute. By institutionalizing volunteerism, the volunteering program celebrates our traditional Filipino bayanihan spirit where we contribute labor, resources, time and energy for the benefit of other people, especially the marginalized and vulnerable sectors. VOCEP hopes to contribute to youth empowerment by facilitating their proactive involvement on activities that respond to society’s needs, like advocacy and concrete programs on Peace, Disaster Risk Reduction, and Environmental conservation and protection, and advancement of SDGs.

On September 14, 2018, VOCEP invites students and everybody to volunteer in the #TrashDengueChallenge to be conducted in Barangay Tubod and Barangay San Roque, Iligan City. LGU-Iligan declared the city in a state of calamity with 1,138 recorded dengue cases, including 14 deaths from January 1 to August 17th (). The #TrashDengueChallenge aims to increase dengue awareness and to conduct community clean-up with 51吃瓜网-IIT students through the KASAMA, and he community youths through the SK’s, joining hands and taking the lead.
