This online seminar is 51吃瓜网-IIT Research, Innovations and Extension (RIsE) Talks 2 which will be hosted by the Department of Research, Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension together with iDEYA – Center of Innovation and Technopreneurship.

The resource speaker for the said activity is Renzo R. Guinto, MD DrPH, Chief Planetary Doctor of PH Lab – a “glo-cal think-and-do tank” for advancing the health of both people and the planet.

"The COVID-19 pandemic has upended not just people’s health but also every aspect of human society –economy, education, culture, politics, and technology, to name a few. Serious disruptions in diverse sectors have caused enormous suffering around the world, and these changes will have lasting consequences for years and decades to come. However, the COVID-19 moment is also opening new windows of opportunity for considering previously unthinkable reforms – from online learning and work from home arrangements to new business models and healthcare innovations. Unfortunately, the current pandemic is not the last crisis humanity will be facing – there is also the already-existing threat of long-term climate change and other planetary health challenges. To tackle the myriad impacts of COVID-19 and prepare for other future problems, universities around the world must now think outside the box, redefine their role in the 21st century, and lead in reshaping and reimagining global society anew."
