The Philippine marine waters harbor vast and untapped resources, estimating up to 15 trillion pesos. Our coastal areas support a considerable portion of our population that depends on marine resources as livelihood and source of food. Indeed, the economic potential of our marine resource is underappreciated. We at the Department of Marine Science are determined to promote to the Filipino people and the world, in all walks of life, that there’s a treasure hidden beneath our seas. Thus, we invited four (4) prominent, esteemed, and highly cited marine scientists in the country to speak about their research endeavors and outputs in the field of physical oceanography, marine biology, and fisheries. |
