When: 08:00 AM-05:00 PM -- Friday, November 27, 2020 TO Tuesday, December 22, 2020
Where:

Via Google Meet

Description:

TukiSalida is a conversation series that bridges the formal discourse in the study of arts in the GEC 106 Art Appreciation course. This virtual venue to discussing arts wishes to develop our students’ capacity to appreciate, analyze, and critique works representative of the arts in order to better understand the cosmos.

By defining the boundaries, interconnectedness, and interrelatedness across the disciplines of culture, politics, economics, history, science, and philosophy, it will gain them perspective in their attempt to see the forms and function of the arts in all facets of human development.

Objectives:

This conversation series will gather scholars and experts of different backgrounds in culture, performance, arts, art theories, and crafts that will help to deepen our students’ understanding of the arts within the context of its time and the society it comes from, thus generating an empowered, critical-thinking and rooted individual.

Included in the virtual discussions are current trends in culture, arts, and art theories and how these confluence redounds to not only appreciating the arts but continue nurturing it being their shared creative expressions.

TukiSalida, along with the class lectures, aims to achieve the following outcomes:

  • Synthesize the role of the Arts in relation to the transdisciplinary cultural semiosphere that governs everyday life;
  • Distinguish works of Art based on their context, form, function, and perceived value;
  • Articulate an understanding of works of Art: how it was formed and how it affects one’s worldview; and
  • Create artworks (individual or collaborative) based on the perceptions gained, that synthesize the discipline of choice, in the media most suited for the intention

TukiSalida is organized by the Department of Philosophy and Humanities, College of Arts and Social Sciences with endowment from 51³Ô¹ÏÍø-IIT Center for Culture and Arts Studies.
