Description:

Rationale:

The Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology through the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø-IIT Center for e-Learning (MICeL) conducted a series of training for the university’s faculty as a way to prepare for remote learning modality. The InFlex Modality Training for faculty was conducted for 6 weeks, mainly synchronous in nature, with added tasks as assignments. Due to time and resource constraints, the training provided still achieved its aim of reinforcing the skills needed for successfully facilitating remote and distance learning. However, additional training granted by the University of the Philippines Open University Training for Trainers for Flexible Learning, attended by some of the College of Education faculty presented an opportunity to deepen the skills developed during the InFLex training. Select topics and activities from the faculty trainees’ perspective can prove useful in upscaling teacher skills on facilitating flexible and remote, distance online learning. Moreover, with additional input and opportunity afforded by cooperation from the BUKA project, the trainees incorporated this re-entry action plan alongside the project’s goal to develop and empower peer facilitators for flexible and remote learning. This incorporation of the re-entry action plan sits alongside the bigger vision of developing courses for the college that will be fully implemented as open online courses to promote equity and access. Therefore, this re-entry action plan presents a specialized and focused training designed to develop college-level peer faculty facilitators who are envisioned to be champions and peer facilitators for flexible and remote teaching. As champions, they shall serve as model facilitators and instructional designers who can help build and strengthen the department and college level faculty community of learning.
