Gabi ng Sining is a collaborative event of the Institute’s Resident Cultural Groups (RCGs) capping off the National Arts Month (NAM) celebration (Presidential Proclamation 683, s 1991), through the Center for Culture and Arts Studies.

Since 2019, NAM has been aptly branded as ALAMPAT (noun), Cebuano for the products of human creativity, Art in our language, which shapes the meanings and representations in our daily lives thus reinforcing our identity as a nation and race. This year’s theme, ALAB SINING, ALAY SIGLA echoes the Commission for Culture and the Arts’ (NCCA) response to continuously assert the significant role of arts through new modalities with fervor and grit.

To weave the online activities the Center launched last year in sustaining the cultural presence of the graduate program (Master in Culture and Arts Studies) and the Resident Cultural Groups (RCG) amidst the pandemic, the motif hinges on strengthening its academic mandate and reconnecting with the founders of the group. The Center wrapped up 2020 with a commemorative video “Through the Years” from each RCG – a visualized chronicling of the group’s narrative since its inception.

This 3^rd ALAMPAT GABI NG SINING, a virtual celebration of prerecorded videos of the Integrated Performing Arts Guild (IPAG), KALIMULAN Cultural Dance Troupe, OCTAVA Chorale Society, KALILANG Cultural  Ensemble, ECHOES Band, and RINGKARAN (IDS Choir),  showcases the cultural tapestry of stories, dances, and songs.
