| Description: |
There is not enough space for the creative few in Mindanao, lest the women. Thus, the project titled Bayaning Pilipina: Malikhain, Mapagbago, Matapang acts in solidarity with the International Women’s Day 2021 celebration, with the theme: “Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world”. Through painting, the project provides a voice for women visual artists to be heard and to be given privilege to discourse in the global spectrum. Having taken shape from various social aspirations, struggles and reawakening (all directed towards gender equality), the effort looks into the advancing prospects of responsive innovation in the creative media and industry. The project Bayaning Pilipina: Malikhain, Mapagbago, Matapang is a Culture and Arts Studies Center-proposed undertaking supported by the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø-IIT’s Gender Development and Resource Center anchored at the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension which seeks to empower women in the locality through visual art. Pakiglambigit 3 featured Iligan-based visual artists Anna Leah Sanson, Hannah Sojor, Lirha Villacanas, and Ninianne Sojor in a week-long exhibition that runs from March 4- 12, 2021 at the Iligan City Ethnic Center Gallery. The painting contest entries can be viewed in the same gallery from March 9-12, 2021, free of charge to the viewing public. |
