My sincere and heartfelt thanks to the Program Coordinators of the various graduate programs of the Institute for their unwavering commitment to making this Graduate Research Colloquium possible amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

For many years, the research colloquium has provided an opportunity for graduate students to present their research work and learn about researches outside of their academic discipline. It has also served as an avenue for students to engage in an intellectual discussion with invited faculty-researchers as critics of their works.

The current pandemic did not only pose a threat to our overall health but has also impacted our research activities. The facilitation of research is now quite challenging. But this unwanted event also offered opportunities in finding research methodologies and approaches to adapt to the current circumstance. These are manifested in the many COVID 19-related research outputs lined up for this research colloquium.

I enjoin all participants to seize this opportunity to learn from our plenary speaker and invited panelists and build collaborative research undertakings for the benefit of the community, especially during these difficult times.
