This is the third time we have been forced to conduct our bi-annual graduate research colloquium online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite spending almost two years working remotely, we have remained connected and learned new approaches to perform our research activities.

The graduate research colloquium is a fantastic opportunity for our students to understand what goes into a scientific meeting. Moreover, they will be able to demonstrate their research works, exchange information among other graduate students, and learn about current research topics outside their discipline, encouraging them to pursue interdisciplinary types of research actively. This is also a suitable venue for students to engage in an intellectual discussion with invited researchers as critics of their work.

The Office of the Director for Graduate Programs would like to commend the efforts of our graduate students who will be presenting their research in this colloquium and their respective thesis/research supervisors for assisting and supporting them. The Office would also like to recognize and appreciate the dedicated efforts of the graduate program coordinators of the Institute for making this Graduate Research Colloquium possible amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. I urge all participants to seize this opportunity to learn from our plenary speaker and invited panelists and build collaborative research undertakings.
