The National Commission for Culture and Arts (NCCA) spearheads the National Arts Month, and within the context of COVID 19 pandemic, the theme “Sining ng Pag-asa” clinches our resiliency and our Pinoy’s expression “kaya natin ‘to” amidst all the odds. The theme also provides opportunities for artists to harness their creative energies in uplifting the nation’s spirit, especially during this time of public health crisis. Joining the month-long celebration is Mindanao State University- Iligan Institute of Technology’s Center for Culture and Arts. Since 2018, the National Arts Month has been dubbed as Alampat, the Sebuano term for “art”, a way of localizing creative expressions in Mindanao. The Institute’s month-long Arts celebration culminates in Gabi ng Sining, a collaborative production of the Resident Cultural Groups (RCGs), namely, the Echoes Band, Kalilang Cultural Ensemble, Kalimulan Cultural Dance Troupe, Octava Choral Society, and the Integrated Performing Arts Guild. This has been the tradition of the university for several years, but for the past two years, the platform has been virtual or online due to the pandemic. While each production showcases the year’s theme, it also depicts the digital landscape of performance, with technology as a crucial component. To commemorate and celebrate the National Arts Month, with Sining ng Pag-asa, the 2022 Gabi ng Sining proudly presents our collaborative production of video shoots and recording, wrapped by the RCGs’ intricate and graceful colors and heard through the euphony and cacophony of expressing HOPE and ARTS.
