Metabarcoding

Salary: Php 15,208.80/month

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree graduate in Marine Biology, Biology,
Environmental Science, Fisheries, or related field.
- Preferably
with experience in marine fieldwork or coral reef surveys.
- Must be a
licensed diver.
- Basic
knowledge of molecular laboratory techniques (e.g., DNA extraction, PCR) is
an advantage.
- Physically
fit and willing to conduct fieldwork in marine environments in Camiguin
Island.
- Has good
organizational skills and attention to detail in handling samples and
data.
- Able
to work independently and collaboratively in a research
team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the
planning and implementation of field sampling activities in coral reef
sites inside and outside marine protected areas in Camiguin
Island.
- Conduct and
assist in the collection and proper handling of environmental samples,
particularly water samples for Environmental DNA (eDNA) Metabarcoding
analysis.
- Support
laboratory processing of samples, including filtration, DNA extraction, and
other basic molecular procedures following established
protocols.
- Assist in the
preparation, labeling, storage, and transport of samples and laboratory
materials.
- Maintain
accurate records of field and laboratory data, including sample metadata
and documentation of procedures.
- Assist in
data entry, organization, and basic data management related to the research
project.
- Help ensure
proper use, maintenance, and organization of laboratory equipment and
supplies.
- Provide
logistical and technical support during fieldwork and laboratory
activities.
- Assist in the
preparation of project reports, presentations, and other research outputs
when required.
- Perform other
research-related tasks assigned by the Project Leader in support of the
successful implementation of the project.
