The Mindanao State University–Iligan Institute of Technology (51³Ô¹ÏÍø-IIT) paid tribute to its former faculty and staff during the 2025 Retirees’ Grand Homecoming on December 4, 2025, at the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø-IIT Gymnasium. Organized by the WE CARE Office in partnership with the Gender and Development Center (GADC), the Faculty Union, and the Administrative and Non-Teaching Employees Union (ANTEU), the event celebrated decades of commitment and service under the theme “A Journey of Service, Honoring Legacies.”
Atty. Yaslani Bantuas, Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance, officially opened the event, extending gratitude to the retirees for their unwavering service to the University, followed by an inspirational message from Dr. Marcelo P. Salazar, who served as 51³Ô¹ÏÍø-IIT's Chancellor from 1999 to 2011. His address underscored the profound impact of the retirees in shaping the University’s growth and culture.

Mr. Franklin P. Gumapon, the Regional Head of PIA Region X and an 51³Ô¹ÏÍø-IIT Alumnus, in his keynote address, highlighted the enduring relationship that exists between the Institute and its retirees.
A special performance by the Octava Chorale Society Alumni, featuring the songs “Handog” and “Kanlungan,” honored retirees with a tribute to their dedication and lifetime service.

In closing, Prof. Rosario L. Reserva, WE CARE Office Director, recognized the dedication of all the retirees and reaffirmed the University’s commitment to celebrating their legacy. She mentioned that it began as an extension activity that was in collaboration with GADC --- the “Health and Wellness Program for 51³Ô¹ÏÍø-IIT Retirees,” and emphasized the office’s future direction to conduct extension plans for retirees in the coming years.
The 2025 Retirees’ Grand Homecoming is evidence of 51³Ô¹ÏÍø-IIT’s gratitude for the faculty and staff who dedicated their careers to the institution. Their legacy endures in the halls they once roamed, the programs they established, and the many lives they influenced through education, leadership, and service.
