On January 30, 2026, the College of Education-Integrated Developmental School (CED-IDS) gathered at the University Gymnasium to mark its 42nd Founding Anniversary and 80th year of its high school department– the IDS, bringing together faculty, staff, and students to celebrate the college’s humble beginnings and over four decades of service.
Present in the celebration were Chancellor Alizedney M. Ditucalan, Prof. Amelia T. Buan, CED Dean, Assoc. Prof. Liza Pamaong, IDS Principal, Department Chairpersons, faculty members, staff, students, former IDS Principals and Directors, and guests.
The event started with a performance from the IDS Ringkaran, followed by opening remarks from Assoc. Prof. Pamaong, IDS Principal, acknowledging the significant contributions of the school’s former principals: Lydie D. Paderanga, also the keynote speaker, Lorna E. Flores, Judith A. Magnetico, Manuel B. Barquilla, Leila V. Bernaldez, Josie Vic Mendoza, Joy B. Bagaloyos, and Amelia T. Buan, CED’s current dean.

With the theme, “Excellence in Service: Pathway to Shaping the Filipino Learner,” Prof. Lydie D. Paderanga, former IDS Principal and CED Dean, shared the college’s pioneering years, honoring its service and commitment to the nation. “On this 42nd Foundation Day of the College of Education, we stand together as one academic community, united in purpose and service. We affirm a truth that has shaped this College from its beginnings, that education, faithfully pursued, is an act of nation-building,” Prof. Paderanga said.
The former dean also mentioned the challenges that came with her deanship and the many times the college also persevered. “There were moments of doubt, when high-performing students transferred elsewhere, when ICT integration was still finding its place, when AACCUP accreditation tested our systems, and when becoming a Center of Excellence seemed far beyond reach. It was this shared vision of excellence in service that enabled the College not only to improve performance, but to shape Filipino learners prepared to serve communities across the nation.” emphasizing how far the college has gone beyond.
Following the keynote address was the Chancellor’s message, highlighting the College of Education's very purpose– Excellence in Service. “Excellence is never achieved for its own sake. It finds its deepest meaning in service– in using what we know and what we can do to uplift others,” said the Chancellor.
He further emphasized how excellence is more than the prestige and awards that follow it, “It has always been about the act of service behind every effort: the extra time a faculty member devotes to mentoring a student, the quiet dedication of staff who keep everything running smoothly, and the resilience of students who have chosen the noble path of becoming teachers and education leaders.”

After the messages, Chancellor Ditucalan, together with Prof. Buan, recognized and awarded tokens of appreciation to Dejie C. Remedios (Top 4) and Hannan R. Baddie (Top 7), represented by her family member, both from the BEED-Language Education program of CED, for their feat as topnotchers in the September and November 2025 Licensure Exam for Professional Teachers (LEPT).
The event ended with closing remarks from Assoc. Prof. Chiedel San Diego, CED’s Assistant Dean.
