IITians unite for Trolls-inspired theme for Palakasan 2026

In a vibrant burst of colors, the Gymnasium echoed with loud cheers as IITians came together on April 22 to mark the start of the highly anticipated student-led event, Palakasan 2026. 

With a Trolls-inspired theme, Palakasan 2026: Seven Hues, One Harmony, the annual event kicked off with the Parade of Honors, with each college celebrating its unique color, proudly holding its banners, and roaring with great enthusiasm. Present in the parade were Chancellor Alizedney M. Ditucalan, University officials, College Deans, faculty, staff members, and students.

Officially opening the 2026 Palakasan through the ceremonial gong, Chancellor Ditucalan, in his message, said, “Palakasan is your chance to live out our core values in action. Palakasan is not just about games; it’s not just about competitions. Palakasan is living our core values as IITians. Therefore, play with excellence, compete with integrity, be accountable to your teammates and opponents as well, and always choose respect over rivalry,” emphasizing that the five-day showdown of colleges is more than coveting the championship title, it is a training ground for upholding one's values and acting with integrity and shared responsibility.

Following the declaration is the torch lighting, led by Dave Andrei Garbanzos, KASAMA President, where college leaders bear their torch and gather together to light the cauldron– igniting the spirit of Palakasan and symbolizing a fair and harmonious competition among colleges. 

The five-day clash of colleges includes the following activities: Mx. Influencer Coronation Night on Day 1; Laro ng Lahi on Day 2; Night of Songs on Day 3; Night of Dances on Day 4; and the Closing Ceremony on Day 5.
